German language Department

Ms. Norah Ndagire

(Die Deutsche Sprache in Budo)

German Students with the Fachberater. Herr Ender.

German is one of the few International languages taught in Ugandan schools. However, different from others, it’s taught in very few secondary schools. This is why we at Budo cherish the fact that we are one of those few schools that offer this language. The visit of the President of Germany H.E Horst Kohler to Uganda was also an added boost to the future growth of the German language here in Uganda as more support was promised as already seen in the increase of the number of PAD Schuler taken to Germany. King’s College Budo is proud to have produced one of our own as one of the 5 best German students in Uganda (PAD Schuler), who will be visiting Germany late this year. He is called Dusabe Peter Buturo S.4 A (2007), who though currently in Mengo S.S was elected at the beginning of this term as one of the PAD Schuler.

The PAD Schuler, are usually 2 best German students selected each year from Ugandan Secondary schools in 1st term of S.5. They are supposed to be students who have continued with Germa as part of their combination in S.5 and are good at both written and spoken German. Before they go through, an oral and written interview is done at the embassy and the best two or five are elected. Before, it used to be two but this year, 5 students from 5 schools were elected.

This is an encouragement to students who ahve got the opportunity from King’s College Budo to study sucha language to actually put in interest and hardwork in developing their written and spoken skills so as to take on such opportunities as these. The World being a global village today, such languages remain important for such people who want to be International in their occupations.

This recognition culminates in our cherished annual prize giving ceremonies. We have gone a step further by recognising excellent contribution by our former students, by awarding them the prestigious Budo ORDER OF MERIT.”

King's College Budo's vision is “To be the hub for the best informed global co-education with a christian influence” and our mission is “to provide quality education through networking & teamwork in order to address global trends ”

At Budo we aim at teaching our students the root values of integrity, honesty, niceness & hard work other than the fruit values of power, prestige & prosperity. "Headmaster
