Mr. Arthur Mbalule 2nd left the Director for the Exhange programs at KCBudo with two foreign students and teachers

We have got two running student exchange programs in the school

1. The Budo-Brooks Exchange Program

The idea of this Exchange Program was born in 1981 by a Brooks Deputy Headmaster, Mr. Richard Holmes. However it started effectively in 2004 when Budo sent the first students to Brooks for 8 weeks. The program is fully sponsored by Brooks School. Brooks School is a co-educational ,Day and Boarding school found in North Andover, Massachusetts in USA. Total students enrolment is 360 and 81 teachers. It is a private school with a wide curriculum www.brooksschool.org

The program is largely financed by Brooks school in terms of air travel for our students and upkeep while in the United States. The selected Budo students spend up to 8 weeks in the USA. Budo also puts in money especially for the internal travel of the exchange students as well as their upkeep while here. They spend between 4-5 weeks. The school spent 3.2 million shillings in 2007.We do a detailed itinerary and costing of the program every year. (It will be available in due course of the selection process)

The school has been very supportive in financing our bit of the program and to this Iam grateful.

Challenges
It should be noted that the program is very exciting to all but highly sensitive in terms of security, loneliness of the kids, cultural shock on how we do some things especially the lack of water borne toilets, cold showers etc. When they get here it is important to call and email their parents to know how they are faring.

2. UNITED WORLD COLLEGES (UWC)

Program has been running in the school for sometime. Was previously done by the Deputy Headmaster ( Mrs Songa) but has been run under the other student exchange programs since 2006.

Ms.Nandyose Kizza Margaret is representing Budo in Costa Rica under this program.

3. AFRICAN LEADERSHIP ACADEMY ( ALA)

This is yet to start but will be based in South Africa.
