COMISSIONING THE NEW LBRARY 7TH JUNE 2009

COMISSIONING THE NEW LBRARY 7TH JUNE 2009

If you did not attend the commissioning of the new Library and Classroom Block this is what you missed.

The Guest of Honour was supposed to be His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi 11 but he was represented by Owek. Tony Kiyimba Kaggwa instead. The new Bishop of Namirembe of Diocese led the service. This was his first visit to Budo since he became Bishop. He  was consecarted on 31st June 2009.  The service and speeches were at the terraces - the Ghana, Mutesa, Canada Triangle. The Centenary Clock was ticking away merrily .

First was the service, Holy Communion and then the opening. The Bishop and visitors went round the building led by the Boys Brigade Band, You know the area around is now a stone walkway so dust free. The Bishop said a prayer, the blessing then knocked the door with his staff three times and then the Guest of Honour unveiled the stone to commemorate the occasion and then opened the building. The lounge of the library was decorated with pieces from the Art Dept against a white backdrop on the walls. As you came in you were greeted by a big carved lion on the outside wall, then directly facing you inside was a running film of the history of Budo.On the second floor is the wall of fame listing those who have made substantial contributions to the Project. The people were able to tour the library and then came the speeches.

We had a good number of Owekitiibwas from Mengo and many parents. The following were recognised for their service in the building of the library. Eng Batumbya - Project Manager, Mr ntwatwa - quantity surveyor, Arch I. Nyabwana, Eng S. Sentongo, Hajji Kaddu Kiberu and posthumously Dr. Suleiman Kiggundu. Mr S.Busulwa and Mr G.WSemivule were present.

Interspersed with speeches was entertainement by Budo Junior School , King’s College, Budo students and the Boys Brigade Band. Mr D.Katuramu and Ms. Okabe Shiori a JICA volunteer who teaches Music at Budo played the piano . Lunch was served and by 3.00 pm we were through except  for those who wanted to visit.

The students were pretty excited by the ceremonoy and especially the decor and spent the night before taking photos .

What a step forward for Budo!
